COMPANIES CONTACTED FOR THIS STORY:

Larry Plyler
Cuprotex LLC
336-404-6363

Cuprotex is the manufacturer of the linens made with copper. They provided
us with the following statement:

"…washing our sheets weekly in hot water and detergent will kill most of the
bacteria in the sheets. Do you wash your mattress cover every week also?
How about your pillow? … Again, we make no public health claims about our
sheets and pillowcases. We only claim that our sheets are made with the
Cupron copper technology that is scientifically proven to kill the bacteria,
fungus and microbes that cause odor, to keep your bedding feeling fresh and
clean. "Cupron fabrics fight back" against the bacteria, fungi, and microbes
that attack your bedding fabrics. We also can claim that these same Cupron
fabrics and fibers are scientifically proven to help enhance healthy skin tone
and complexion and improve the appearance of blemishes and crow's feet, to
leave your skin vibrant and glowing, while you sleep on them.
We hope everyone will want the best technology available today for a safe,
clean, and comfortable sleeping environment, for the place we spend fully
one third of our lives. It is up to each individual to determine what is best for them."

John Angelini
AmericanTextile Co.

American Textile Co. makes the Rest Right Pillow with SilPure treatment. The
SilPure treatments are silver particles that latch on to fabric and fight bacteria.
Regarding washing sheets weekly, the told us, "We endorse frequent
laundering. Not everyone wants to wash their pillow or mattress pad every
week. That is where our products are particularly helpful."

Craig Benepe

Home Source International
404-355-0114
Home Source International makes the bedding made with bamboo fibers.
They tell us that their tests have shown that their linens do fight bacteria.
While Benepe says washing kills the bacteria just as well, their products slow
the accumulation of bacteria between washing. They also provided us with
the following information:

"Bamboo, like all wood products, naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria. In
fact, bamboo is more effective at inhibiting bacteria growth than any other
wood fiber and even fabrics that have been specifically treated to kill
bacteria. The company has tested their bamboo sheeting by introducing a
million bacteria cultures to the fabric and found that 90% of the bacteria were
dead within the hour and no more than 0.5% survived after 24 hours. The
best result for specifically treated cotton fabric to kill bacteria was 5.5%
survival after 24 hours. Bamboo's ability to kill bacteria means that these
sheets will stay fresh smelling."
