Localization Tips:

  • Find out if any of your local hospitals or HMOs are testing Smart Cards.
  • Find out if any of your local hospitals have changed to a paper free system to maintain medical files.
  • Talk to a local medical ethicist.
  • Talk to a local privacy attorney about legal issues related to possible misuse of information obtained from Smart Cards.
  • Call some privacy attorneys and find out if they've ever represented a client who sued for misuse of medical information. It does not have to be from Smart Card misuse. The victim could talk about the damage that these kinds of information leaks can cause.
