(NPN) does not, nor will the company ever, use VNR material from any
source. All video and sound contained in NPN products is shot by NPN videographers and/or NPN hired videographers for the sole use of NPN and its clients; or in the case of file video, is obtained from the libraries and archives of respected news organizations that do not accept VNR material, including some of our client stations. NPN does on rare occasion use handout b/roll from companies, agencies or institutions that do not allow photographers to enter their premises for safety, health, or other reasons. For example, a cancer research center may not allow photographers to enter a lab for fear of contamination, a company may not allow photographers into a factory or facility for proprietary reasons and a government agency like NASA may provide footage from space. The decision on whether or not to use handout b/roll is made on a case-by-case basis by Senior Management. In these rare cases, NPN will clearly note on the script where any hand-out video is located, who provided it, and who gave permission to use it. This allows client stations the opportunity to identify hand-out video via chyron or in the track or voice-over.
